Capt. Denny Dillon of the Persuader II reported a good start to the week with a couple of offshore trips where they landed a good number of nice sized bluefin tuna on the jig. Later in the week they spent some time catching and releasing big striped bass before switching over to bottom fishing and limiting out on black sea bass with some bonus scup. They haven’t been seeing many cod but now that the season is open they will spend some time prospecting the deeper wrecks and rock piles to see if they are around.

Capt. Denny Dillon of the Persuader II said that they ran offshore in search of tuna several times this past week. The mid-week trips were excellent with 12 to 15 bluefin boated per trip. Things slowed down a bit over the weekend with a lot of added pressure, but they were still able to put some fish on the deck. They have been doing a mix of trolling and jigging and both styles are producing very well. Striped bass fishing picked back up with some nice bass into the 40-pound class caught and released this past week. Ground fishing has been very good for black sea bass and scup but unfortunately the fluke fishing is still very slow.

Capt. Denny Dillon and Capt. Jim McWilliams have been fishing the inshore and offshore waters throughout the Northeast for over 30 years. Their charter vessel, the Persuader II, is a fast and comfortable 44 foot, twin diesel sportfisherman that can handle any fishing scenario thrown at it. No matter when or where they sail or what you choose to fish for, their primary goal is providing a safe, enjoyable and productive experience. Based out of Rhode Island, the Persuader II is privy to some very diverse fishing opportunities. Beginning in May, target species include striped bass, fluke, scup and sea bass. Offshore fishing takes hold later on during the summer and has seen some very impressive catches of yellowfin tuna, wahoo and mahi mahi. The season ultimately draws to a close late in the fall with blackfish being the predominant target from mid-October through November.
