Sea Gear Outfitters reports that the drum bite in Delaware Bay continues to be good with fish to 30 pounds caught earlier this week. The fish were caught just off of North Cape May with most fish caught on surf clams. Sea bass and flounder action from the Wildwood and Cape May Reef Sites was very good this week with lots of shorts and some keepers mixed in. Anglers scored the flounder on Gulp and strip baits while the sea bass were taking clams and jigs. Deeper water wrecks have been worth the ride as reports are that many boats are finding limits of keeper sea bass and flounder to 24 inches.

Reports from Sea Gear Outfitters in Cape May tell us that anglers had a nice variety to choose from this week; flounder, drum, weakfish, and sea bass. Flounder action was mostly in the back bay or in the canal, but some boaters found keepers while sea bass fishing on the Cape May Reef Site. That reef was holding a ton of short sea bass, while anglers fishing deeper wrecks were finding limits of keepers on clam baits and on diamond jigs. We heard from several sources that weakfish to 22 inches were being caught along the Cape May Point jetties by anglers floating bloodworms. Overnight drum fishing continues to be strong with many of the sloughs on the Jersey side of the bay producing fish to 40 pounds this week.
