FINE FLUKING, FINALLY
A flurry of double-digit fluke were decked this past week in Rhode Island waters. (Photo courtesy of Booked Off Charters)
With this coming weekend’s Fluke Til Ya Puke tournament set to take over the South Shore of Rhode Island, it is fitting that this week’s fishing reports are dominated by big fluke! After starting off hot, and then going slow, the fishing has more than made up for the slow-down with a slew of double-digit fluke landed out around Block Island up to 12-plus pounds. Lots of fish from 5 to 9 pounds are also being caught, so in-between doormats it has been almost easy to fill one’s limit. Both squid and sand eels have been present on the fishing grounds from Block to South County and over to Newport, so bring be sure to being a variety of gear and be ready hand that ‘mat!
