FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
South Shore

Posted By Tom Melton, June 11, 2018
Standings from the Suffolk Marine Striper Tourney tell the story. The big bass have arrived.
This week’s best bet in my opinion should be stripers again. It appears the larger bass have filtered their way to our area from Fire Island to Moriches. Now is the time to score your largest bass of the season. And, if you do catch that big bass, think hard about setting her free after a nice photo. Remember, if you do release, make sure the fish is healthy and will survive. For fluke fans, there is plenty of fish around, and plenty in the 5 to 6-pound class, but you do have to weed through shorts. For Dream Boat fans, the sea robin bite is hot, so grab a fat one and get on the Dream Boat leader board. Weakfish action is holding on in the State Channel and near Ocean Beach. The Ocean Beach bite has been best after dark or in the early a.m. hours.
