Sea bass action keeps getting better and better as evidenced by this brace of hefty sea biscuits
It’s always nice to have a variety of species to choose from. Sea bass fishing just keeps getting better and may soon steal the show from other species that inhabit the local wrecks and reefs. The Hempstead and Atlantic Beach reefs, Cholera and the McAllister Grounds offer anglers a shot at solid fishing. Porgy action continues to grow as well. Most are keepers but they have to be quick to beat the sea biscuits to the clam baits. Ling are available at the reefs but you need to work the deeper drops in order to connect so work the spots 70-ft. and beyond. Most summer flatties still have not ventured too far past the inlets. Reports indicated a new body of fish arrived at Fire Island Inlet with very good numbers of keepers. A party boat captain that targets all four species on a daily basis advised that you bring an arsenal of weapons that should include bucktails, jigs, high/low rigs, clams, strips baits and GULP.
