FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
North Shore

Posted By Geoffrey Lawrence, October 22, 2018
There has been a good mix of shorts and keepers for North Shore blackfish fans.
Blackfishing remained solid and good catches occurred on the days anglers were able to anchor up. The reports were consistent in regards to fishing the shallow depths of 20 to 40-ft. Green and Asian crabs helped nail ‘tog on bait rigs, and small pieces of crab on a jig worked equally well. The numbers were also consistent in that you should expect plenty of shorts and a couple of keepers. A notable exception was a party boat that tallied a full boat limit near the Connecticut side of the Sound. The Triangle saw a few keeper bass and some blues. Porgies are biting well and even snappers haven’t completely deserted the docks and piers.
