FISHING LOGS: New Jersey & Delaware Bay
Northern New Jersey & Hudson River

“Sunday saw a striper explosion,” said Tom Palmisano at Fisherman’s Den North this week in our weekly reports. However, North Jersey fishing was pretty darn good earlier in the week too as evidenced by this 51-pound bass weighed at Fishermen Den North in Atlantic Highlands.
There was an explosion along the northern coast on Sunday this past week. It was the sound of the big bass arriving on their fall run with fish to 50-pound plus bending rods on the boats that took advantage of the nice weather. Evidence points to a body of fish coming down from the Sound, through the East River and out the bay, which should mean there are more on the way. Most boat captains and tackle shop owners said it’s about time for the fishing to break open, especially after the pounding we have been taking from the weather week after week. In other fishing whitechin action is on fire in a lot of areas, which bodes well for November 16 when the bag limit goes up. On the down side the porgy fishing is slipping away and sea bass action was not as good this past week. Bluefish with some albies and bonito are also still around.
