BEACHCOMBINGS
Looking forward to casting metals first thing Monday morning, Sal LaMarca instead stumbled across this interesting item along the beach at Monmouth Beach. “Notified Coast Guard and local police but no one seems to be in a hurry,” Sal said via Facebook. Some surfcasters say “boat fish don’t count,” but what about now?
This past week saw some good striped bass fishing start the week off only to have a Tuesday deluge usher in four straight days of nor’east winds followed by several inches of snow on Thursday and more winds on Friday and Saturday. Boats that did brave the nor’east winds jigged up some nice bass from the back bay and off the tip of Sandy Hook. Needless to say when the bag limit went up on blackfish the weatherman was right there with some stiff winds. As we go into the month of December there are still a lot of bass to the north of the Jersey coast. So look from some bass fishing in the 12th month. Likewise blackfish are still around both in shore and offshore so tog fishing should be decent as well. Let’s not forget about the very good winter flounder fishing in Shark and Manasquan rivers. I want to wish everyone a nice Thanksgiving and a happy holiday season, and let’s hope the weather gods will be kinder to us next year.
