Dante “Magic Tails” Soriente with the massive tautog caught just after the New Year while fishing out of Barnegat Inlet with Paul Haertel. The massive fish weighed in at 20.96 pounds at Fisherman’s Headquarters and was caught on a crab-rigged Magic Tails tautog jig.
The big news of the first official week of 2019 comes by way of Fisherman’s Headquarters where Dante “Magic Tails” Soriente came in with a big tautog to weigh-in caught while fishing with Paul Haertel off Barnegat Inlet someplace. That big fish was 20.96 pounds and hit one of the Magic tails jigs, so yes, there are some big fish to be had and they are taking crab-tipped jigs. Several teen-sized blackfish have also been reported along the coast from north/central Jersey waters on down to the Delaware reef sites. The 2019 show season kicks off in New Jersey this Thursday through Sunday, January 10-13, as the Garden State Outdoor Sports Show sets up in Edison. Visit The Fisherman’s booth #327 for special goodies for new and renewing subscriptions. Details on The Fisherman’s homepage.
