Come see us this weekend at the CMTA Hartford Boat Show, you can find The Fisherman Magazine at booth #BR352, located in the Ballroom, directly off the main hallway after you enter the show.

With temperatures in the 60s in some places over the weekend, local anglers got a taste of fishing fever. Unfortunately that warm weather all but killed ice options to the south and the wind that came with it made sailing impossible for the cod boats. However, those anglers with open-water know-how took advantage of the conditions and did quite well. Holdover stripers to 20-plus pounds were reported, and not just in the big and popular tidal rivers. Very good action was reported in smaller tidal rivers as well as some of the local harbors. Trout, bass, pickerel, panfish and salmon (in Connecticut) have been pleasing freshwater anglers where the lack of ice in most places is proving to be good.

The rest of the week looks to remain somewhat warm, but a bit of weather moves into the region for the weekend. If you are unable to wet a line, consider visiting the CMTA Hartford Boat Show which docks at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT, Thursday through Sunday.
