FISHING LOGS: New Jersey & Delaware Bay
Freshwater

HOT & COLD

Posted By J. B. Kasper, September 18, 2017
It was an up and down week in the sweetwater. After some cooler weather jumpstarted action two weeks back, warmer weather made fishing a little more erratic last week. A week without any significant rainfall on the other hand allowed many waters to clean up and start coming down to more seasonable levels, and this should help the fall fishing. Largemouth fishing has been good in some waters and poor in others. Likewise, while picking up in general, crappie fishing is very good in some waters and spotty in others. Smallmouth fishing is very good in moving water however you have to work for the smallies because high water conditions have the bronzeback spread out in most waters. Trout fishing is decent in a few waters, while pickerel fishing is picking up in South Jersey and pike fishing is good in several waters farther north. Catfish, carp and panfishing is good through out our reporting area. Rounding out this week’s prospects for some action are hybrids, walleyes and muskies in waters where they are present.
