FISHING LOGS: New Jersey & Delaware Bay

Posted By J. B. Kasper, October 9, 2017
Cooling water temps and the passing full moon made for some hit or miss fishing this past week in the sweetwater. Hopefully the warm up won’t set the fall fishing back again. Now that Thursday’s full moon is passed we should see start seeing some fish on the fall feed. Bass action has been up and down and how good or how slow the fishing is depends on the body of water you are fishing. Crappie fishing is also an up and down sport with some waters seeing very good fishing while other only spotty fishing. Most crappie fishing is in the early evening. Smallmouth fishing in the moving water continues to serve up some fair to good numbers and many anglers have started live-lining minnows for the smallies with good results. Carp and catfishing continues to yield some good fishing and panfishing is also very good. Pike, muskies and pickerel round out this week’s prospects for a good catch in a few waters. Don’t forget the fall trout stocking starts on October 10 with the streams.
