FISHING LOGS: Long Island, Metro NY
South Shore

Posted By Tom Melton, May 14, 2018
The blues are in. Blues mixed with stripers on the Fishfinder.
As expected, this week saw a notable increase in action, with bass and blues invading both bays, while weakfish action increased in the bay and along the docks. Anglers seeking a nice dinner of fluke were rewarded with good action on the outgoing tides in Great South and Moriches bays. Blues from 3 to 15 pounds surfaced in the bays as well, with topwater action providing a lot of fun for boaters and surfcasters. For this week, I would start looking for larger bass to show, so live bait may be the ticket. If you want larger fluke, fish the dropping tide as the water will be warmer and should put the fish in a better feeding mood. And, last but not least, flounder pounders should be able to drum a few up in the Sore Thumb and Moriches bay area.
