The bluefish bite looks like it could break open at any time now. They’re in the bays and in the rivers. As we’ve been saying, “If the weather would just warm up already!” Surf fishing has been good especially the farther down you go. Island Beach State Park and LBI both have decent surf bites - when it’s tolerable. Fluke are all over; hopefully that’s a good sign for two weeks from now. Folks are still hitting up drum in the wash throughout the range – it’s been drum/stripers when fishing with clam in the surf, more bluefish/bass when using bunker chunks. Of course, this becomes a much busier time of year down at the docks at Brielle, Point, Barnegat and Beach Haven as boats start turning attention towards black sea bass which is finally open as of May 15. We expect the first week to be a busy one, perhaps with a few Dream Boat humpbacks in the mix as well!
