Fairfield Fishing Tackle

November 11, 2019:
Anglers fishing the fall stocked northern streams continue to pick away at the trout, said sources at Fairfield Fishing Tackle. While fishing has been decent the windy days are putting a lot of leafs in the water. The Passaic saw it's water levels come down this past week, however the river remained off color and just about no one has been fishing it.

Trout fishing was also at the top of the list when we spoke with Larry over at Fairfield Fishing Tackle. He too told us he got better reports on the fishing this past week and added that pike fishing in the Passaic River was serving up some real nice pike and smallmouth prior to the mid week rains. Since then fishing on the river has been quiet.

"The Passaic River continues to fish well for smallies, perch, carp, pike and catfish," said Larry over at Fairfield Fishing Tackle. Larry also mentioned some decent trout fishing in the northern streams when the leaves aren't getting in the way and some bass and crappie action in local lakes and ponds.

Anglers fishing the river are into smallies on live bait, northern pike on big shiners and swimming plugs and catfish and carp. With the exception of the fishing in the Passaic River bass and crappie fishing in lakes and ponds has been at a stand still according to Larry over at Fairfield Fishing Tackle. The lower Passaic is full of small stripers which are providing good action for light tackle fishermen on jig-swimbait combinations and small swimming plugs. In the upper Passaic anglers are into a mix of catfish and carp in the quiet water pools, northerns and smallies in the eddies and whitewater areas with minnows and big spinnerbaits taking the northerns and jig-swimbait combinations and minnows taking the smallies. Very few reports on the trout stocking came into the store.
