Snug Harbor Marina

June 1, 2020:
Striper action has been pretty good off the beaches, according to Snug Harbor Marina in Wakefield, but the ponds have been red hot. It's been all about the worm hatches and the fish have been in there heavy. Fly guys are doing well with any cinder worm imitator, spin guys have been hooking up using 4-inch Slug-Go's in pink or red. The West Wall has been good to those that find their way in, nothing big but fish to 31 inches have been reported. Deep Hole has also been giving up fish and the lot at Matunuck Beach is now open. Overall, the parking situation is better, but still not 100 percent.

The ponds have had lots of schoolies and some slot fish too said the crew of Snug Harbor Marina in Wakefield. Worm hatches have been firing up in Green Hill and Ninigret ponds this week bringing out the fly guys flicking their yarn flies. There are bass along Matunuck Beach and the West Wall; the issue has been parking, you have to get creative to catch a fish and not get a ticket. Crowds have been light along most of the beaches and breaches because access is so tough.

The fishing has been great around Matunuck and the West Wall according to the crew at Snug Harbor Marina in Wakefield. Access is still an issue as most lots are closed, but the creative anglers are getting in via wifey drop-offs and hopping on the old Schwinn. The biggest stripers reported this week have been 33 inches. Toggers are still doing well from the local rocks also.

Oddly enough the tog reports from Snug Harbor Marina in Wakefield came from Charlestown! She said it was just a few fish, but the guys were happy. She said the striper bite has been decent all along the South County shoreline, but said it hasn't been consistent; the fish seem to be moving around quite a bit, but there have been a handful of keepers in the mix. Squid reports are still nil, but draggers south of Block are picking them up, hopefully they head in soon.
