Jersey Hooker Outfitters

November 11, 2019:
Trout fishing in the Toms remained your top bet for some fishing, said sources over at Jersey Hooker Outfitters. Powerbait and Trout Magnets are still scoring some fall stocked trout in the river. The only other report the store got was of pickerel fishing in the bogs and ponds off Route 70 and 72 on minnows.

Sweetwater anglers saw some decent fishing along the mid coast this past week, stated Virginia at Jersey Hooker Outfitters. Trout fishing in the Toms River served up some nice fall stocked fish on Trout Magnets and Powerbait. She also mentioned decent bass action in Colliers Mills, Lake Carasaljo and Lester's Lake on swimbaits and jigs. Fishing in Lake Riviera continues to be slow due to repairs on the upper lake. Virginia also mentioned very good pickerel fishing in the cedar waters off Route 70 on livelined minnows and spinners.

"Trout fishing continues to be good in the Toms River," stated Virginia at Jersey Hooker Outfitters. Most of the better fishing has been in the TCA on Trout Magnets in the holes and under cut banks. Forge Pond, Lester's Lake, Trilco and the pond at Ocean County Community College are giving up bass on Keitechs, Zooms and other swimbaits and crappies on small Jigs tipped with plasticbaits. Last but not least Virginia said the bogs and ponds west of Lakehurst are fishing well for pickerel on minnows and spinners.

"With the exception of the trout fishing it was a quiet week of fishing along the middle coast," said Virginia at Jersey Hooker Outfitters. Virginia told us the trout have spread out in the Toms and other streams and are hitting Powerbait and spinners, especially in the Trout Conservation area of the Toms. Bass and crappie fishing was on the slow side with only scattered reports of bass being caught in most local waters. Pickerel fishing however has been decent in Whites Bog and the bogs and ponds off Route 70 west of Lakehurst on killies and swimming plugs.

Toms River also got the lion's share of the accolades from Virginia over at Jersey Hooker Outfitters. She told me she fished the river on Wednesday and caught rainbows to 6-pounds on Trout Magnets tipped with trout worms. Bass fishing in Rivera, Lester's Lake, and Crystal Lake has been spotty, while the later afternoon fishing in Manasquan Reservoir remains good. Here too we were told of decent pickerel fishing in White's Bog and other cedar water on killies.
