Rich from Southside Marina participated in the Manasquan River Marlin & Tuna Club's recent tournament, and they put some fish in the boat. He says the troll is producing a mix of bigeye and yellowfin, the former coming in at 200 to 242 pounds, and yellowfin to 70-plus pounds.

Rich at Southside Marina notes that there are a few bigeye to 150 pounds and yellowfin to 60 pounds waffling 'hoos in the Hudson Canyon. Rich and a few buds ballyhoo-prowled an area below the Toms Canyon and went 10 for 13 on white marlin to 60 pounds and boxed several mahi in the 30-pound class.

"Overall, the tuna action in the canyons stinks, but there are bluefin to 70 pounds being jigged at the Atlantic Princess," observes Rich at Southside Marina. The Spencer Canyon has seen sporadic activity with "rat" yellowfin, but the mahi bite has been decent.

"Looks like the bigger bluefin, I'm talkin' fish 200 pounds and bigger, are moving north real fast," observed "Big Rack" Rich from Southside Marina Sunday afternoon where he was preparing an evening departure for a hernia-generating Hatteras adventure. He notes that the Triple Wrecks had been the most productive bluefin locus the past few weeks and that there are still tuna hanging out there. "Right now, figure fish in the 60- to 80-pound class," he said.
