"Buefin blowing up from 5 miles out and closer," emphasized William with Captain Bill's Landing, adding that while the optics are wild, the bite from the 80- to 100-pound plus quarry is anything but. "Real picky fish. Poppers and the troll. Be prepared to go from one to another," he advises.

"I don't know what to tell you with another nor'easter forecast for this week," shrugged an obviously frustrated Jadon at Capt. Bill's Landing. He's figuring with a gap in the weather and conditions there may be opportunities for yellowfin and longfin in the Hudson.

"Giants will show after the blow," predicts Jadon with Capt. Bill's Landing, pointing to the Mud Hole and the Glory Hole as offering the first shots at the buster bluefin jackpot. Live mackerel and similar sacrifices will get things going.

Jadon with Capt. Bill's Landing says there are tons and more of mixed-size mahi at the pots and patches of flotsam from the Glory Hole to the Chicken Canyon. A customer prowled the Hudson mid-week and hit 10 longfin to 40 pounds that pounded Melton Tackle Cherry Jets on a 6- to 8-knot pull, and a pair of bigeye to 120 pounds that hammered blackpurple Carlson Wide Tracker bars. The southern area of the Toms Canyon surrendered a trio of daytime hungry swords to 250 pounds for another offshore store regular.
