Bullet Hole Annex

November 18, 2019:
It was a week of change for a lot of fishing, stated Nick over at Bullet Hole Annex. Bass and panfishing took a nose dive with the quick drop in water temps caused by the mid week cold and winds. By late week crappie fishing picked up with the cooler water and the shop got good reports on the walleye fishing in Monksville, Greenwood, Hopatcong and other waters. Trout fishing remained good in Verona Lake and most of the of northern trout streams. Last but not least short stripers continue to supply some good light tackle fishing in the tidal Passaic and Hackensack. Nick wished everyone a Merry Christmas and said the store will be open normal hours through the winter.

Trout fishing is alive and well in the northern streams according to Nick over at Bullet Hole Annex. The shop got good reports from the Ramapo, Pequest and Wanaque this past week. Greenwood, Hopatcong and Monksville are giving up walleyes and a few muskies and the lower Hackensack, and to a lesser extent the Passaic, are red hot for small stripers on jig-swimbaits and small swimming plugs.

"The Passaic River took a hit from this past week's rains," said Nick over at Bullet Hole Annex. Early week fishing was good but the Wednesday-Thursday rains made for a high, roiled rive over the weekend. Verona Park and Branch Brook Park are still serving up some fall stocked trout and Greenwood Lake is still decent of smallies and walleyes. All else was quiet he said.

Verona Lake served up some good trout fishing this past week according to Nick over at Bullet Hole Annex. Powerbait and worms worked well there and in the northern streams when you could get past the leafs. The lower Passaic and Hackensack rivers continue to be full of smaller stripers which are serving up some good light tackle fishing on jig-swimbait combinations. Greenwood Lake is hot for walleye, smallies and perch.

It was a week of before and after, before the mid-week rains and after the rains, said Nick over at Bullet Hole Annex. Before the rain and winds the trout fishing in the streams was good, while after the rains the windy packed streams with leaves making fishing tough and the only report the shop got was from the recently stocked Verona Lake where the fishing was decent. Bass fishing served up good catches after the rains in Lake Hopatcong, Greenwood and other northern lakes and with water temps cooling walleye fishing is starting to pick up also. The Passaic continues to give up nice northerns and smallies in the upper portion and small stripers in the tidal portion, Nick said.
