Capt. John Lewis from Insatiable Sportfishing had intel of bluefin feeding in with the stripers, some being caught on mojos along the Three Mile Line. He shared that Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association junior mates program sharpies Max Goldman and Jonah Kelly waxed a 350-pound thresher shark that pounded a bunker spoon. A second, smaller thresher, was released. Kudos to young gun Captain Nick Perello, a graduate of the Junior Mates Program, who skippered a 36 Bertram Express for a charter that boxed a 150-pound swordfish and 150-pound bigeye that inhaled rigged eel and rigged mahi belly baits.

"Remember what I said last week about wahoo at the Cigar? Well, Nick Perillo, one of our Junior Mates Program graduates, was on a fun trip there yesterday and they caugh a pair between 35 and 38 pounds," reported Capt. John Lewis aboard Insatiable Sportfishing. The skipper said mobs and more of mahi are also there and are being caught on the troll and also on pitched baits around the flotsam.

Insatiable Sportfishing was dockside Sunday afternoon with a Monday morning repair scheduled, but Capt. John Lewis was chatting with some of the boats that just came in to Morrison's Marina. "Still plenty of white marlin out in the canyons," relayed the skipper, "and one had four white release flags flying." He's been busy cashing in on the solid fluke bite, but was amazed at the numbers of Spanish mackerel and bonito that were seen crashing the top and jumping in the air, and they looked to be between two and five pounds, some bigger. "Find the bunker, and you'll find the bonito and Spanish mackerel," said Capt. John.
