Jake from Tackle Supply Depot in Wallingford summarized his latest shore-fishing outing at Mackenzie Reservoir in Wallingford. He brought his girlfriend's 7-year-old cousin there to introduce him to the sport of fishing, and the youngster had a ball catching bluegills, yellow perch, and one small largemouth bass on worms under a bobber. As Jake said, it was great seeing the kid get all lit up every time he caught a fish. When he got a chance to make a cast, which wasn't often, Jake picked up three largies to 2.75 pounds on a Whopper Plopper.

Jake at Tackle Supply Depot in Wallingford made another trip to Mackenzie Reservoir in Wallingford where he fished from shore from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Using a few different lures including a chatterbait, Senko, and Ned-rigged finesse worm, he popped a dozen largemouths in the 1- to 2-pound bracket. The Senko and Ned-rigged finesse worm, which he worked very slowly, almost dead-sticking, fooled most of his fish. He also told us about his father, Vinnie, who caught a 14-inch rainbow trout on a Silver Bullet Spinner at Wharton Brook Pond Trout Park in Wallingford. (Wharton Brook Pond Trout Park was stocked with three hundred 9-to12-inch rainbow trout the week of October 15-18 and four hundred 12-inch-and-up rainbow trout the week of October 7-11.)

Jake from Tackle Supply Depot in Wallingford detailed his latest trip to Mackenzie Reservoir in Wallingford. Casting a chatterbait dressed with a Berkley PowerBait Water Bug and swimming it over grass, he caught three largemouths in the 1- to 2.5-pound range. Because the Water Bug floats, he also Ned-rigged it and added two smaller bass. Jake had high praise for the Water Bug which he called a very versatile lure which can be drop-shotted, mounted on a jighead, or used as a trailer.
