Canal Bait & Tackle

July 6, 2020:
It was a similar story at Canal Bait and Tackle in Sagamore Beach, they said that the morning action has been pretty quiet for the most part with a few fish here and there. Nighttime guys are pulling a few good fish, but the most reliable fishing was taking place between the rink and the railroad bridge

The script was very much the same at Canal Bait and Tackle in Sagamore Beach, they said there had been a few hot mornings this week and then things got quiet. On those good days 30-pound bass were common with many larger fish in the mix. Wacky Mackerel and yellow plugs seemed to be the best producers, and since things have gone quiet the night guys have been reported better results on those colors as well. Outside the Canal the Sandwich beaches have been giving up mostly schoolies with a few keeper fish mixed-in.

It was a similar story at Canal Bait and Tackle in Sagamore Beach, the night bite in on for the jiggers but the day bite has been much slower with smaller fish. Night guys seem to be doing best with brightly-colored jigs especially hot pink and chartreuse. But for those that know how to jig well, the action has been pretty good with plenty of big fish.

Hopping the bridge to Canal Bait and Tackle in Sagamore Beach, they said the morning bite in the Canal has been slow. But there had been some news of better action in the west end toward the end of the week. The Sandwich beaches have been giving up good action for smaller stripers, not many fish over 30 inches out there so far. Bigger fish are trickling into the Canal, everyone is waiting for that first big push.

The crew over at Canal Bait in Sagamore said the Canal has been awesome this week for fish averaging 24 to 30 inches. Bigger fish are starting to trickle in, but they are not in heavy yet. The biggest fish reported this week was a 43-incher taken in the Canal. The best lures this week are those that imitate mackerel, the Savage Sand Eel has been the top taker.
