A BIG SHOW WEEK IN THE NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY REGION - The Fisherman

A BIG SHOW WEEK IN THE NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY REGION

After a week of brutal cold, heavy winds and a little touch of snow throughout the region, the weekly weather report as of Monday morning, January 22 shows a bit of a warming trend heading into the latter stages of the week.  In terms of fishing in the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region, that means a little white perch action in the back bays, salty rivers and creeks, perhaps climbing aboard a charter or head boat in search of tautog.

For those looking to shop around there are a few events going on this week where you can get a free copy of The Fisherman Magazine and take advantage of our “show specials” for subscriptions, a $20 Shurhold gift card that you’ll receive via email, and a 4-inch Tidal Pro iPop popper from Tsunami that you’ll get on the spot when getting a new or renewing subscription.

First up this week, the world’s first and longest-running boat show, the 2024 Progressive Insurance New York Boat Show, opens at the Javits Convention Center on Wednesday, January 24 and runs through Sunday, January 28.  A New York tradition since 1905, the five-day event delivers a shopping paradise for boaters with the latest in boating innovations, plus interactive boating workshops, and fun for the whole family.

Look for The Fisherman booth #658 to take advantage of those show special deals.  Show hours are Wednesday to Friday from noon to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Javits Center is located at 655 West 34th Street in New York City.  Tickets are on sale online for $18 for adults (children 12 and under get in free when accompanied by an adult).  Find group discounts and a full list of exhibitors at NYBoatShow.com.

Also on Saturday, January 27, look for The Fisherman’s table at the Raritan Bay Anglers Club Annual Fisherman’s Flea Market.  Managing editor Jim Hutchinson, Jr. will be manning our table from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at that event on Saturday to be held at St. Cecelia’s Hall, 45 Auth Avenue in Iselin, at the corner of Oak Tree Road and Route 27.

For details contact Don Beyer at the Raritan Bay Anglers Club for more info at 908-494-0980.  Be sure to find our full calendar of events for the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region in each monthly edition of The Fisherman Magazine.
