ALLPRO FISHING EXPO & WORKSHOP

If you are looking for something fishy to do this weekend, make plans to attend the AllPro Fishing Expo & Workshop this Sunday, February 9th at the Huntington Hilton Hotel located at 598 Broadhollow Road (Route 110) in Melville, NY. The Expo features over 10,000 square feet of vendors and 35 Hands-On Workshop Programs covering all types of fishing, including kayaking, inshore and offshore fishing, party boats and surf fishing. New this year is the "Angler’s Corner," a great place to ask questions, learn a few tricks and share some great fish stories.

There will be free giveaways, free meet & greet, and the highlight of the show, its extensive workshop schedule. In past years, you had to pay a separate fee to attend the workshops. This year, the workshops are included in the $20 price of admission. If you purchase your ticket online at https://www.allprocharters.com/expo-workshop/, the cost is just $16. Online sales end this Saturday at noon. Children under 16 with a parent are free.

The Expo floor opens at 10 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m. Doors open for the workshops at 7:15 a.m. and the first session begins at 8 a.m. Workshops run thoughout the day and are included in the price of admission. Sharking 101: Getting Started to Landing the Big One: No one does it better than Capt. Tony Gatto. He dedicates his time to offshore fishing and one of his specialties is shark fishing. A multiple tournament winner, you don’t want to miss his class. He will cover the basics such as what you need to get ready to go, rigging, baiting, the look of your spread, and then more advanced techniques such as power chumming, trolling and landing. Tony Maja & the 50lb Club: This workshop is taught by Tony (Maja) Arcabascio Jr. Tony goes over their products and shows you how to use them properly. You’ll learn the proper set-up, the equipment needed, the speed you should be traveling and the science behind their famous Tony Maja Bunker Spoon, Mojos, rods and other products.

Locating Fish Inshore: No matter if it’s the North Shore, the South Shore or the Point, Youtube Personality and Social Media Influencer, Hawaiian Dan has fished it. He fishes from boat, shore and kayak, he fishes from Manhasset to Huntington to Greenport and all along the South Shore. He’ll go over the tricks and tips you’ll need to know to be successful when targeting an array of fish around Long Island and how to find them. Presented by Hawaiian Dan

Power Fishing Plugs & Plastics for Big Stripers: Everything you need to know about Poppers, Stick Baits, Deep Divers, Sub-Surface lures and how to use them. Near Shore/Mid Shore Tuna Bite: You don’t need a 40-foot Sportsfisher to reach the tuna, you just need to know where to go and how to fish for them. Now you too can get onto tuna without planning a trip to the canyon. Presented by: Kirk Fay

Tuna Trolling, Setting the Perfect Spread: There will be 50 boats trolling spreads all over a few acres of ocean and only a handful will be successful. Those who don’t catch fish call it lady luck. Capt. Tony Gatto teaches you how to meet that lady. This workshop introduces you to different lures to use in your spread, what colors you need to have and how to properly display that spread on the surface. Tuna Popping & Jigging: Capt. John McMurray has a special set of skills. While most people troll aimlessly looking for tuna, the Tuna Hunter, Capt. McMurray knows how to track them down, get on top of them and get them to bite. He is such an expert in this technique there is no need for him to keep spreader bars and a trolling set on his boat.
