The Coastal Kayak Clash is a season-long, multi-species fishing tournament open exclusively to Fisherman Magazine subscribers. Whether you paddle, pedal or power your kayak, you’re eligible (as long as you’re also a Fisherman subscriber, of course!) with no additional entry fee required. You will need to register at www.TheFisherman.com prior to participating in the tournament and entering any fish, but that’s just a formality to ensure your acknowledgement of the rules.
Eligible species in the Coastal Kayak Clash include eight divisions and nine of the most popular and sought-after inshore species for you to target throughout the season including weakfish, porgy/scup, fluke, sea robin, bluefish, black sea bass, blackfish/tautog and a combo ‘hardtail’ category which includes both false albacore and bonito. And what’s even better, there is no requirement to harvest a fish to participate (although you may do so after photographing for entry so long as the fish meets local requirements for same) as scoring is based on the total length of the fish based on photo entry.
Now the really exciting part, a look at what’s up for grabs in the inaugural Coastal Kayak Clash. The First Place prize is a brand new Old Town AutoPilot 136 with FL-Troll lighting kit from Yak Lights. The Second Place prize is a package from Malone Auto Racks including an XtraLight LowMax trailer with two sets of bunks, a BeachHauler Soft Terrain Heavy Duty Boat Cart and a Striper-4 Rod carrier. The Third Place prize is an awesome new Humminbird HELIX 9 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N fishfinder. The Largest of Species for the entries with the longest length fish in each species will win a PENN Clash II Spinning reel and matching Fenwick HMG Inshore Spinning Rod. And finally, each of the seven months of the Costal Kayak Clash has a designated species (with May kicking things off with two species) in which we award a special Fish of the Month prize. The entry with the longest fish of the month for the following fish species will win a $100 Gift Certificate to be redeemed at YakAttack.com respectively: May-Weakfish and Porgy/Scup; June-Fluke; July- Black Sea Bass; August- Sea Robin; September-Hardtails (false albacore and bonito); October- Bluefish and November-Blackfish.
So now that annual Fisherman Magazine subscription not only delivers you the best local fishing articles, videos, reports and more, it also includes entry into an exclusive season-long kayak fishing tournament, the Coastal Kayak Clash. Fishing in the CKC begins on May 1 and concludes on November 31; good luck!
