This Saturday, July 22, The John Veprek Memorial Point Pleasant Elks Lodge #1698 will host their 28th fluke tournament with $40,000 in cash prizes for the heaviest fluke.
Based on a minimum of 250 power boat entries and averaging $30,000 in calcuttas, the tournaments pays out prizes to the top seven places along with a youth prize (under 15) for heaviest fluke, as well as a $650 bonus for heaviest fluke by an Elk in good standing.
Entry price for four anglers is $200 per boat by July 19, $250 after. The price per additional onboard angler is $35. The captains meeting for all boats will take place on Friday, July 21 at the Point Pleasant Elks Lodge at 820 Arnold Avenue starting at 6:30 p.m.
After the contest, an awards picnic will take place starting at 4 p.m. at the lodge.
