The Merchantville Fishing Club will host their 6th annual surf fishing tournament this Saturday, October 14 on the beaches of Long Beach Island. Tournament headquarters will be based out of Surf City Fire Hall at 813 Long Beach Boulevard in Surf City, with registrations being held from 5:30 a.m. until 6:30 a.m.
This event will be a team and individual tournament, with team (six anglers) entry for $80, and individuals $20. First tournament fishing session runs from 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., the second session from 10 a.m. until 12:30, with hot lunch to be served with raffles and awards back at the fire hall upon completion of fishing.
Beach buggy permits have been waived for the tournament; only vehicles with four-wheel drive and aired down tires (18 psi recommended) are permitted on the beach. Tournament organizers asked that you please try to limit vehicles to three buggies per team.
