The 8th annual Point Lookout Shark & Tuna Tournament is a one-day event (Saturday, June 12) with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Waterfront Warriors, a Long Beach based organization that provides support to wounded soldiers and their families. Over the last 7 years, the tournament has raised more than $38,000 for local charities.
The entry fee for the Point Lookout Shark & Tuna Tournament is $450 per boat. There are prizes for first, second and third place. In the shark division where only makos and threshers qualify. Qualifying tuna include bluefin, yellowfin, albacore and bigeye.
There are six added levels for the shark division and five added levels for the tuna division. For shark division, it’s $100, $300, $500, $1,000, $1,500, and $500 Mako Madness. For tuna division, $100, $300, $500, $1,000, and $1,500. These are heaviest-fish, winner-take-all for each level, offering anglers more chances to win.
A captains’ meeting and kickoff party (bring the family) with live music, food and more will be held on Friday, June 11 at 6 p.m. at Ted’s Fishing Station, 143 Bayside Drive, Pt. Lookout, NY.
There will be a Bimini start at the JI Buoy on Saturday, June 12 at 6 a.m. All weighable fish must be at the scales at Ted’s no later than 6pm. Scales open at 3 p.m. Weather date for the event is Sunday, June 13.
