A Note From The Golofaro Family

We just wanted to pass along a short note from the Golofaro Family, it really makes us feel good here at the magazine to see how our readers and followers have given of themselves for one of the nicest and most important guys in northeast sportfishing. We miss him terribly, but it makes it a little easier seeing him honored this way. What follows is a note from Donna Golofaro.

The outpouring of support that we’ve received since Fred’s sudden passing has been absolutely overwhelming. Trays of delicious food, beautiful floral arrangements and plants, abundant gift baskets, financial help, caring words of comfort and concern, sincere prayers… all are greatly appreciated. A huge gratitude to Chip Gorman, LI Regional Director of NY State Parks, and his staff for helping coordinate such a beautiful and meaningful Celebration of Life at Robert Moses State Park. Thank you also to those who went to the beach to pay their respects to Fred. We wish we’d had the chance to greet everyone in attendance. Finally, a special thanks to Mike and Joyce Caruso, and our friends and staff at The Fisherman. They have been a second family for over 40 years and have been an amazing source of compassion and help through this entire process.

Let us all remember Fred’s devotion to family, his love of fishing, and his passion for teaching others. Be generous, be kind.

Gratefully,

The Family of Fred Golofaro
