The American Angler Classic Surf Fishing Tournament will be held on Sunday, May 2 on Long Beach Island. It is an individual (adult and youth) and friendly family type of surf fishing tournament with thousands of dollars in retail fishing prizes and gift certificates to be won.
According to tournament organizer Carl Hartmann, there are simple rules and a free 4×4 permit included for the day along a 2-mile beach in LBI. Registration is just $25 for adult surfcasters and $15 for kids 17 and under (with a prize category for kids too.) Barring any pandemic related setbacks, registration will take place at Bayview Park, 6805 Long Beach Blvd.
Shop sponsors include Fisherman’s Headquarters, Surf City and Jingle’s Bait and Tackles shops. Other event sponsors include Fireplaces Plus, Fishbites, Costa Del Mar, Century Rod/Advanced Fishing-USA, Top Notch Tackle, Muller Insurance, and The Fisherman Magazine.
