The Arthur Lem Memorial Snapper Derby will take place on Tuesday, August 17 in Kismet on Fire Island. Sign up is at 9:30 a.m. in front of Kismet Market. Fishing is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bait will be provided and there is no entry fee. A lunch of hot dogs and fries will be served following the close of the contest at Kismet Inn. It is suggested kids bring their own rod and reel. There will be four age groups: Under 6; 7-8; 9-10; 11-12. The heaviest fish in each group wins a trophy.
