From November 7-10 the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) will hold their 80th anniversary Annual Meeting at the Ocean Place Resort, 1 Ocean Boulevard in Long Branch, NJ.

As per the agenda posted online, anglers might be interested in the Monday afternoon discussion with the 3 p.m. discussion by the Atlantic Striped Bass Management Board to review the 2022 Stock Assessment Update when managers will look at whether or not more reductions are needed in the striped bass fishery to achieve stock rebuilding targets.

On Tuesday morning at 10:45, the Coastal Pelagics Management Board will consider the 2022 Spanish mackerel stock assessment update and consider fishery management plan reviews and state compliance for both Atlantic cobia and Spanish mackerel.

On Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. the Coastal Sharks Management Board will set specifications for the 2023 fishing season, while the Atlantic Menhaden Management Board will convene from 1:30 – 5:30 p.m. to consider commercial allocations and specifications for 2023 through 2025.

This will be a hybrid meeting to allow for remote participation by Commissioners and interested stakeholders in all meetings except for those of the Law Enforcement Committee, Habitat Committee and Atlantic Coastal Fish Habitat Partnership Steering Committee. Meeting proceedings will be broadcast daily via webinar beginning Monday, November 7 at 9 a.m. and continuing daily until the conclusion of the meeting (expected to be 2:30 p.m.) on Thursday, November 10.
