Beach Haven Club’s “Tuna Open” Kicks Off On Saturday 6/14

There are several offshore tournaments coming up this summer with top payouts for billfish, but only a few events focused primarily on tuna species.  Starting this Saturday, June 14 and running through the following Saturday, June 21, tuna hunters can focus squarely on bluefin, yellowfin, longfin, and bigeye when gunning for parts of the $10,000 tournament purse in the 5th Annual Beach Haven Tuna Open.

Boats will elect to fish any two of six available fishing days.  The two elected fishing days may be back-to-back, and boats do not have to return to port if they are fishing back-to-back days. Fish any time, no lines in/lines out times. The event will pay out $5,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place and $2,000 for third, with a number of dedicated optional calcuttas for any and all of the four qualifying tuna species in the event.  In fact, the Beach Haven Marlin and Tuna Club said the ’24 Tuna Open event was the largest to date, featuring a field of 74 boats and $178,000 in prizes.

Before applying any calcuttas, the registration fee of $750 per boat can be paid on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Beach Haven Marlin and Tuna Club located at 420 West

Pennsylvania Ave, Beach Haven.  The captain’s meeting itself starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday, with an awards ceremony next Saturday, June 21 at 10 p.m. at the completion of the Tuna Open.
