Arguably one of the greatest NHL goalies of all time, Flyers legend Bernie Parent is also quite the fisherman.  A regular on the Cape May fishing grounds, Parent is also known for his work in the local community; from July 26 to August 9, the NHL Hall of Famer will lend his name and personal participation to a friendly, charitable fishing competition to benefit the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation.

The Bernie Parent Fishing Challenge is a family-friendly, charitable fishing competition created and hosted by NHL Legend Bernie Parent. The Challenge, which is open to fishermen of every level, combines Bernie’s passion for fishing with his enduring dedication to the Philadelphia Flyers community.  A truly one-of-a-kind event in Cape May, the 2021 Fishing Challenge merges the annual In-Shore Fishing event at Canyon Club Resort Marina in Cape May with a virtual tournament format.

Participating anglers can compete in freshwater, saltwater, in-shore, and off-shore options during a two-week competition, culminating in a day-of fishing event and poolside celebration down the shore on August 9th.  Participate in the two-week long virtual competition and then join the party with Bernie at the Canyon Club Marina on Monday, August 9!  Registrants have the option to BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat!) or purchase an individual ticket aboard the 125-foot Atlantis party boat with Snider Hockey students and other anglers. Non-anglers may also celebrate poolside for an evening BBQ!

All Proceeds benefit the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation – an organization that provides hockey, education, life skills, and academic scholarship programming to inner-city Philadelphia and Camden students at no cost, with 100% of event proceeds donated to Snider Hockey. The event is sponsored in part by Bait n’ Hook of Sicklerville and Canyon Club of Cape May.  For details go to bernieparentfishing.com or stop by Bait n’ Hook.
