Celebrate the Fourth With “SJ” Blue Marlin Tournament

If you’re looking to celebrate Independence Day by running to the edge and back, you might want to partake in this year’s MidAtlantic Cup on Saturday, July 4.

The ultimate socially distant event, the MidAtlantic Cup is presented by the folks at South Jersey Tournaments in Cape May, NJ and is held without a captain’s meeting, but plenty of bluewater action.

“Last year we worked with our friends at The Blue Marlin World Cup and The Gulf Cup and created The MidAtlantic Cup,” said tournament director Aaron Hoffman.  “Following on the long tradition of The Blue Marlin World Cup, this event has minimal rules and only one prize category – Largest Blue Marlin.”

Hoffman said tournament crews can fish out of any port while weighing in at one of the four designated regional scales. “There is only base entry and one calcutta, it couldn’t be easier,” Hoffman added.  For those ready to take on the world, Hoffman said the rules are designed to allow you to fish The MidAtlantic Cup and The World Cup, with its million-dollar prize, at the same time.

“Rules, details, online registration, and contact information is available at MidAtlanticCup.com,” he said, adding interested anglers can also call South Jersey Tournaments directly at 609-884-0177.
