Contender To Launch New 26BAY Boat

Since 1984, Contender Boats has been committed to building its semi-custom sportfishing boats out of Homestead, FL, and just last month the company announced the arrival of the newest member of the Contender fleet, the 26BAY.

“This new model combines the world class running surface of our highly popular 25BAY with some new updates and modifications,” said Joe Neber, Owner and President, Contender Boats. “The 26BAY displays Contender’s continued dedication to innovation through fishability and performance.”

“With an integrated transom bustle, innovative console design, and unmatched fishability, the 26BAY will allow you to go deeper into the bays, backcountry and blue water than you’ve ever been before,” added Neber.

Some of the modifications include a transom bustle, improved bilge access, increased storage, increased fuel and water capacity, improved rod stowage access, wider jump seats, wider forward seating and better ergonomics when walking around the console.

The newly designed 26BAY console includes an integrated helm pod, built-in glovebox, improved mounting surfaces for speaker placement and a larger electronics face that can accommodate dual 16-inch screens or a single 22-inch screen.

With an 8-1/2-foot beam and skinny water friendly 12-inch draft, the Contender 26BAY is sure to be a solid addition to our New Jersey, Delaware Bay region “ghost” fleet along the back bays and sedges in the seasons ahead.  According to Amanda Sabin, Director of Marketing for Contender Boats, the newest Contender will make its debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show from October 26-30.  Expect a full, first-hand report from Lauderdale in the coming months from The Fisherman’s boating & electronics editor, Capt. John Raguso.
