CT Angler Lands Potential World Record Catfish

newsBen Tomkunas nearly doubled the Connecticut white catfish state record while fishing in Coventry Lake. The 21.30-pound monster cat dwarfed the previous record of 12.75 pounds.

Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) confirmed the record on social media in a statement that read, “HOLY White Catfish Batman! Congrats to Ben Tomkunas who shattered the former CT state record with this 21.3-pound monster from Coventry Lake.”

In addition to the CT record, Tomkunas’ fish is also a good bit heavier than the current world record, 19.31 pounds, taken in California in 2005. The CT record fish was taken on a boilie intended for carp and measured 38 inches.
