It’s a special weekend for getting together with family and friends, giving thanks and putting on the feedbag. But Thanksgiving weekend also happens coincide with some of the very best striped bass fishing of the entire season, making it the perfect time for celebrating along the beach.
Bring the family and join your friends at the 10th Annual Surf Turkey Tournament from November 24-27 presented by Charlie’s Bait and Tackle in in Normandy Beach. This year’s tournament is catch and release, and the cash prizes are for first and second longest striped bass and a five fish stringer.
The tournament will kick off at 5 a.m. on the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving and will run through Saturday, November 27 at 5 p.m. “This year our famous awards dinner is back on Saturday at 6 p.m.,” said Pete Kupper from Charlie’s, adding “unfortunately with going to a catch and release format we must sell tickets to help cover the cost of the food, this year we will be offering a chef prepared buffet.”
Boundaries are from the south jetty of the Manasquan Inlet to the north jetty of Barnegat Inlet. Tournament entry fee is $40, and awards dinner tickets are $15 per person limit (two tickets per entry of the tournament.) For details call Charlie’s Bait and Tackle for details at 732-793-1144.
