February Fishing Flea Markets - The Fisherman

February Fishing Flea Markets

In between the multi-day events (New Jersey Boat Sale & Expo, and Philadelphia Fishing Show as examples) many fishing clubs, organizations and local groups host single day fishing flea markets throughout the region during the winter months.  These are terrific events highlighting local lure makers and tackle shops where you’ll find a variety of new and used tackle for sale, in addition to being able to book fishing charters in the season ahead.

First up in our monthly calendar of events in the February edition of The Fisherman Magazine is the Saltwater Anglers of Bergen County Flea Market on Sunday, February 5 bills itself as “the only saltwater flea market in North Jersey” and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hasbrouck Heights Hilton.  Cost of admission is $5 for adults with kids under 10 years free. Contact Don Lohse at 201-832-1298 or [email protected].

The following weekend smack dab in the middle of the Jersey Shore is the Southern Regional High School Fishing Show on February 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Southern Regional Middle School Cafeteria at 75 Cedar Bridge Road in Manahawkin, NJ. As one of the very first organized high school fishing clubs in the state of New Jersey, the Southern Regional event raises money for the continuing youth activities.  Admission is $4, children under 12 free. Call Jason Hoch at 609-597-9481 (ext. 2120) for more information.

The next day you have the Palmyra Fire Department Fishing Tackle Flea Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Charles Street School at 100 West Charles Street in Palmyra, NJ.  Held on Super Bowl Sunday, February 12, the event location is just a quick shot across the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge crossing of the Delaware, so expect to see a lot of Eagle green (should they make the big game or not).  Admission is $4. For information call John at 856-786-0718. The Fisherman Magazine will be there as well with BKK Hooks and Fishbites for any new or renewing subscriptions.

And one of the oldest running fishing flea markets in the Garden State will be held on Sunday, February 26 when Ocean Fire Company hosts their 27th Annual Ocean Fire Co. #1 Fishing Flea Market. That event will run from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Antrim School, 401 Niblick Street in Point Pleasant Beach. Admission is $5 (kids under 12 free). For info contact Matt at 732-213-2133.
