Fish Hard & Win This Saturday, August 15

If you and your crew are looking for a little competition to go with your Saturday fishing efforts, there are a couple of good ones to choose from this weekend at the Jersey Shore.

The Ozarks 27th Annual Fluke Tournament / Greater Saltwater Open will be held this Saturday, August 15, with weigh stations all along the Jersey Shore to weigh your catches. Based on 100 registered boats, the Ozarks Greater Saltwater Open boasts cash prizes totaling $6,000 with top prizes based on the combined weight of the heaviest three fluke.  There’s also first, second and third place prizes awarded for biggest bluefish, sea bass, sea robin, and skate!

The captains meeting will be held on Thursday, August 13 at 150 Toms River Road in Jackson with $200 entry fee per crew, and tournament proceeds going to benefit Heroes on the Water.

Also on Saturday, the Jersey Coast Shark Anglers will host their 4th Annual Arrowhead Fluke Tournament. Captains meeting will be held on August 14 at the Arrowhead Inn on Route 88 in Brick starting at 6:30 p.m.

There’s a $10,000 prize purse based on 150 paid entries, with weigh-ins at Captain Bill’s Landing on the Manasquan River from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on August 15.  Entry at the captains meeting is $100 for up to six anglers, with the tournament open only to boats 28 feet in length and under!

At the Friday night captains meeting, tournament crews can also get into calcuttas for heaviest fluke ($50 or $100), and stringer of two heaviest fluke ($50).  Prizes to be awarded Saturday night at 6 p.m. at the Arrowhead Inn!
