The 27th annual “Brutus” Fluke Tournament’s is set for Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 5:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Hosted by Egg Harbor Township Elks 2563 and Somers Point AmVet Post 911, the tournament was initiated in 1999 to honor the memory of avid Bay fisherman, Walter “the Brute” Gregory, Sr., and has become a yearly tradition for anglers of all ages hoping to catch the big one!
The entry fee is $50 per angler, and fishing may be done from boat, pier, or beach. This year’s Brutus Tournament will feature $2050 in cash prizes ($1000 for 1st, $500 2nd, $250 3rd) as well as 12 valuable non-cash prizes. Additional categories include junior angler, heaviest striper, and heaviest three perch (all win $100).
The deadline for registration will be at the end of the 6 p.m. captains meeting held on Friday, May 29. Free awards buffet will be held after the tournament. All events and the weigh-in will be held at the Egg Harbor Township Elks Lodge at 1815 Somers Pt.-Mays Landing Road in Egg Harbor Township.
Pick up registration forms at Somers Point Marine, Tight Lines, Gregory’s Bar, Fin-Atics, West Marine, Scott’s Dock, Ship Shop & Absecon Bay Sports Center. All tournament proceeds support Somers Point AMVETS Post 911 veteran fund and E.H.T. Elks Lodge 2563 disabled children’s charities.
