Typically, the months of May and June provide some of the area’s best summer flounder action in the back bays from the Navesink River to the Lewes Canal and everywhere in between. For small boats in the Great Bay area near Tuckerton, before water temps heat up sometime in July it’s prime time this week to load the box with flatties.
This Saturday, June 14, you can expect to find the fleet drifting out past the old fish factory and all along the clam stakes as the folks from Cape Horn Marina host their first annual Flounder Round-Up. A bay fishing only event, the Flounder Round-Up is open to anglers fishing from Oyster Creek in Waretown down behind Atlantic City, with weigh-ins from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. back at the marina.
Located at 570 Great Bay Boulevard (aka, Seven Bridges Roade) in Little Egg Harbor Township, Cape Horn Marina Bait and Tackle is hosting this first annual event with an entry fee of $125 for up to four anglers. For more information call Joe at 609-377-4394.
