Grassy Sound Marina’s 15th Annual Flounder Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 26 with divisions for Boat, Kayak and Pier fishermen. The day long festivities will also include a barbecue, live band, door prizes and other giveaways at the award ceremony in the afternoon.
Official start time for the tournament is 7:30 a.m. with the weigh-in deadline of 4:30. For boats, registration fee is $250 (four anglers) at the Friday night captains meeting on June 25 at 7:30. Fishable waters for the contest are from Corsons Inlet to Cold Spring Inlet. Grassy Sound slipholders will pick up Tournament bag at marina by 7 a.m. on Saturday, while non-slip holders pick up Tournament bag by boat in Grassy Sound Channel from pontoon boat in front of marina.
For the kayak division, contest anglers can begin fishing at 6:30 a.m. in back bay boundaries from Corsons Inlet to Cold Spring Inlet. Kayaks may enter back bay at any legal entry point within the boundaries after the Tournament bag has been collected. There is a designated launch location at the marina. Kayak registration is $55.
For pier anglers, registration is $25 and includes lunch. Fishing from the Grassy Sound pier begins at 8 a.m. with the final weigh-in at 2 p.m.
