The Hi-Mar Striper Club’s annual fall contest – the Bob Kamienski 40 Hour Striped Bass Tournament – will be held this Friday through Sunday, October 16-18, featuring 40 hours of fishing.
This year tournament will be a CPR format, “catch” a striper, “photograph” the striper using the Hi-Mar measuring device and boat number (both supplied at the October 16th captains meeting), and then “release” the striper. Hi-Mar Striper Club organizers say anglers have the option to keep their legal limit, but the tournament awards are based on two longest stripers.
The mandatory captains meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 16 at the American Legion Post 338 at 860 Route 36 in Leonardo, with the tournament getting underway as soon as the captains meeting is over. The event ends on Sunday at noon and will be followed by the awards ceremony back at the American Legion.
Entry fee is $200 per boat and multiple calcuttas ($50, $100, and $250) will be available at the captains meeting. There will also be a Junior Angler Division. Proceeds will help the Hi-Mar Striper Club fund educational fishing trips for our armed forces, vets and local kids groups.
