Several key regulation changes took effect on September 1 for Northeast marine anglers.
- Atlantic Cod: The recreational cod fishery is now open through May 31 with a 23-inch minimum size, and anglers may keep 5 fish per day.
- Black Sea Bass: The daily possession limit has increased to 6 fish per angler from Sept. 1 through Dec. 31, while the minimum size remains 16.5 inches.
- Scup (Porgy): From Sept. 1 through Oct. 31, anglers fishing aboard licensed party or charter boats may now keep up to 40 fish per person, with the minimum size holding at 11 inches for vessel-based anglers.
Anglers are encouraged to review all current regulations before heading out to ensure compliance.
