In Memoriam – Joan Harrison (MTA/NJ)

The Fisherman Magazine received the following notification from the Marine Trades Association of New Jersey (MTA/NJ) on the passing of longtime MTA/NJ member and friend Joan Harrison.  On behalf of entire team at The Fisherman, we offer our sincere condolences to the Harrison family as well as to the MTA/NJ.

Joan Harrison was born in Woodbury, NJ to the late Joseph and Alberta Rizzuto. Joan grew up in Deptford where she met her beloved husband of 57 years, Edward J. Harrison, Jr. They moved to Toms River, NJ where she raised her family and was later employed as the Office Manager of her family-owned company, Baywood Marina in Brick. After her children were out of school, they moved to Brick, NJ.

She was a former parishioner of St. Justin the Martyr RC Church in Toms River and a current parishioner of The Church of the Visitation in Brick. She enjoyed travelling with family and friends, cooking and entertaining, dancing, crafting, crochet, and watching the birds on her feeders. She loved displaying her Christmas Village and decorating for all the holidays and spending time with her family and friends.

The Harrison Family was inducted into the MTA/NJ Hall of Fame in 1997. The Harrisons have been model members for a quarter of a century – always ready to lend a hand to fellow members- a perfect example of what MTA/NJ stands for.

Joan was a fixture at our MTA/NJ events over the years. She was always smiling and always first to the dance floor along with her husband Ed. She will be deeply missed by us all.
