New Connecticut State Record Carp!

news

Carp fishing is one of the fastest-growing worldwide niches in recreational fishing and Connecticut has emerged as one of the premier places to do it. The Connecticut River in particular, is known the world around, as a destination for carp enthusiasts and tournaments on the river regularly draw anglers in from all over the globe.

It would be easy to make the assumption that the Connecticut state record carp would come from the river by the same name, and that was the case for the last 13 years. However, on May 27 of this year a well-known carp angler, Robert Jagiello from New York State, topped the big river’s long-standing record, a beast in its own right weighing in at 43 pounds, 12 ounces for Mike Hudak. Jagiello’s new record weighed in at a whopping 45 pounds, 1 ounce and was taken from Lake Lillinonah, which is an impoundment on another one of Connecticut’s rivers that is also famous for its world-class fishing, the Housatonic.

The massive common carp will likely remain at the top of the list for many years to come, but with so many renowned carp anglers visiting the state’s waterways, one never knows.
