NEW YORK SURF FISHING CONTEST

Due to the annual meeting being cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 virus, voting on the proposed rule changes for the 2020 season was done through email. Those proposed changes were:

1 – From Striper Surf Club – All striped bass must be released to be entered in the contest.

2 – From Traditional Surfcasters – Proposed Rule Change: Reducing the minimum weight for bluefish from 7 to five (5) pounds to be eligible for entry into the NYSFC.

As of this writing, 10 of the 12 clubs have submitted their votes. The tally is at 8 yes and 2 no for number 1, and 7 yes and 3 no for number 2, resulting in both proposed changes being adopted.
