On Saturday, September 2, 2023 the NJ Fishing Club will host their third annual Rock the Dock LBI Fluke Tournament with a dual shotgun start at 7 a.m. for participants fishing by boat from Barnegat Light or Beach Haven. Contestants may fish from boat, kayak, land, the Miss Beach Haven party boat or the Mary M IV charter boat.
Tournament weigh-in will be at the Boat Yard on the Causeway Bridge leaving LBI – either by boat or by car – and runs from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. with an awards ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Payouts and prizes are based on largest limit of fluke (one over and two slots) for top five finishers, as well as a $1,000 guaranteed prize for the heaviest slot fish. There will also be prizes for youth participants 11 and under, and ages 12 to 16, with a first place prize package going to the top lady angler aged 17 and over.
NJ Fishing Club has been hosting Jersey Shore fishing tournaments and events since the club’s inception in 2020, and according to club founder and president Matt Sorrentino, there will be vessel inspections at registration check in the morning of the tournament and all weighed in fish will be carefully measured and inspected by tournament officials prior to hitting the scales.
